Last week started off overcastly. Then came about an inch of rain. There was more of the same moving into the weekend. In between the two rains was a warming lake, summer-like air, and some emergency lawn mowing.

There was thunder and lightning with the first bunch of storms.

Rain was forecast for the weekly ski show at Water's Edge Bar and Eatery. It missed us, or fell apart, or something and the show went on without any sky drops.

The show is fast becoming one of the best free events of the summer.

The trillium may be about 48 weeks away, but other plants are picking up the slack in coloring the shoreline around Lucerne.

Some of the sunsets last week also splashed color around the northwoods.

Didn't hit any deer last week, but there was a small bird vs Suburban event. It did not go well for the small bird.

Though not as un-well as the aforementioned small bird, the knottlane webcam is having its issues addressed in the bar's electronics lab. It'll be back soon.

All the rain is pushing the <a href='/LakeLevel/LL2.html' class ='defaultlink2' target='_blank'>lake level</a> up and making the water hazards on local golf courses all the more perilous.

The wet weather is also creating new water trouble in various low spots on and off the fairways.

All totaled, the lake got about 2.5 inches deeper last week.

The lake temperature went above 70°F last week. Huzzah! In addition to pushing up the lake level, all the rain has grown a bumper crop of mosquito. Runs on DEET, Benadryl® and tourniquets have become a regular summer 2024 thing. The clouds of mosquito does have an upside. The buzzing swarm keeps the tech monkeys in the lab servicing balky electronics instead of funning around in the outdoors.<br><br><br>-Nemo is becoming more mosquito bite than man.
