Last week started off hot. Then came the rain. Then came cooler, more seasonal temperatures...and adventure!

The rain and hot at the start of the week has made the color of the lake area predominantly green with just a touch of red.

It added up to a quarter of an inch shy of 2 inches for the week. If this continues, piers will have to be adjusted (again!) and a short and tasteful service will be held for Lucerne's disappearing (dying!) beaches.

Lake Schaefer is back. A guy has set up a produce pier in the northwestern corner of the lake. He sells really good corn.

All the rain has made the water hazards on local golf courses into WATER HAZARDS.

It has also made some of the sand traps a little water hazardy.

After tennis Tuesday and a feet wetting round of golf, a road trip to the southern haunts of Wisconsin was had. There was a visit to see local baseballers win in extra innings.

And there was the second weekend of Summerfest (frequently referred to as Generic Musically Themed Overpriced Food Festival Number Two).

The adult-type beverages seemed a little pricey. That, and day drinking is only for the young and foolish. The wise festival attendee responds with a hard pass.

They came in these neat shaker glasses and were pretty heavy on the vodka.

The music was pretty good, too.

It seemed strange to have mainstream headlines start a set at 3:30 PM, but the crowd didn't mind. She actually was really good.

Due to the road trip, we missed Wednesday's water ski show. This is the first show I've missed in 10 years. Coincidentally, I took one of my personal favorite pictures of the show ten years ago. That's year round resident, EMT, and current LLAA board member on the left. I'm not sure who one ski guy was.

The sunsets we caught did not have the "Fire in the Sky" spectacularity, but were more welcome than usual due to day's length and activities (soggy golf, tennis, day drinking, Tiffany). Just before dark, bones yearned for a little sleep.

The lake temperature is up to 70°F.

Swimming and diving is much more enjoyable without all that shivering.

All the rain can make lawn mowing more challenging and golf more squishy, but it does give many some time to convalesce before the next round of summer events. Despite the Central Standard Door County Cherry Vodka Lemonade and Tiffany, there was a bit of melancholy at Summerfest this year with the absence of The Venice Club. The famous Italian restaurant has closed and deep fried eggplant, mushrooms, and cauliflower were nowhere to be found at Henry Maier Festival Park. Boo! It was also a little sad to end a 10 year ski show attendance streak last week. On a more positive note, the next 10+ year ski show attendance streak starts this Monday.<br><br><br>-Nemo: Golfer, Skier, rarely a Day Drinker.
