The Last Weekend in July
July 27th through 29th
We made it up late on Friday.  The first sunlight we saw was on Saturday.  It was very blue.
The north end of the lake got 2.8 inches of rain last week.  Yeah!
As the month closes out, the lake is up 3.5 inches.  A rate of a little over 10 inches per quarter would bring us up to the nail in no time (actually 10 months). The creek has water again.
Saturday's sunset on the pines was very nice.  It cooled off quite a bit after the sun went down.
Lake Lucerne's water temperature at 6 feet is hanging around 80 F.  The cooler nights will drive those very swimable degrees back into the 70's soon.

Saturday was astonishingly sunny.  I didn't see a cloud in the sky all day.  Those that did not put on SPF 30 or better were just piles of ash by sunset.  On top of that sunscreen had better be a thick coat of DEET.  The bitey bugs are back.  And hungry.  I guess those that ventured outdoors and did neither were reduced to itchy piles of ash by sunset. The fire danger was low, campfires dotted the lakeside at night.  We deemed ourselves too tired,  crisp and itchy to attend the old timers ski show at Water's Edge on Saturday.  Instead, we sipped fresh squeezed lime juice diluted with tonic and vodka by one of those orange, flickering dots on the lakeshore.
