The First Weekend in June
June 1st through 5th
The days were in the 70's.  The nights, including the evening we arrived, were cooler.  A campfire was used to take the chill out of the air.
Hotter campfires can also be used to have fun with glass bottles.
Meatskies, on the corner of Hwy 64 and Z is open again.  Huzzah!
Sunsets were great all weekend.
The previous week was also rainless.  Boo.  The creek bed is dry.
The weekdays before could be described as windy.  Some lifts and the winds did not play together well.
It was pretty bright at night when the full moon came up over the pines.  As far as I know, nobody barefooted after sunset. The wildlife is very active all around and on the lake.
After seeing aLf's swimmers itch warning, time was spent devising ways to keep the pox off our feet and ankles.  It worked well (except for the breathing part).
There are lots of bugs too.  Both the nice kind and the bitey.
The winds of last week gave way to the calm of the weekend.  The lake was very flat and ski-able everyday.  When this picture was taken, there was 20 minutes left in the day to legally ski. Time enough for 2 or 3 good runs but no one skied up all that mirror.  The fish are active under all that flat.  We pulled in 15 rock bass in less then a half an hour on Sunday, ate 5 and froze 10 for later.  The bluegills are starting to "nest" just out from the raft.  They are grumpy, giving the fish-stink-eye at any diver that looks their way.  I wanted to get a picture of 'em, but the water is just under 70 F, the time was late and who wants to risk some weird fish curse.

-Nemo, too sore from skiing to ski.
