Surprise Snow Weekend

Next »

May 7th through 9th, 2010

Whoever ordered the precipitation this weekend forgot to check the liquid box on the order form. The warehouse had some snow left over from winter and it was shipped to the northwoods. Let this be a lesson to you. Carefully check over any weather ordering form before mailing it in. Some areas got less, but we had 6 solid inches on the north end of the lake The trees were tossing down wads of snow from their branches all morning. It was best to stay away from them lest ye be bombed with waves of wet snow. The snow squalls ended and the sun came out later in the day. Trillium season is at its peak. The flowers did not seem to be upset by the snow. There was 0.8 inches of water in the rain guage after the last snow of the season melted. We need more rain, but this was a good weekend. A loon was fishing the north end of the lake on Sunday. There were no reports of biting insects, but the mayflies are about and seem to seek any open head-hole (ears, eyes, nose, pie). The fire danger is reported as low but the creek going into the lake on the north end is still dry. One more good rain this week ought to fix that right up.

.-Nemo
