The First "Feels Like Summer" Weekend

Next »

May 15th & 16th, 2010

The weekend was almost missed due to some surprise commitments that lasted until 10:30 am on Saturday. There was more than some debate on whether it would be worth the trip to go up for the remainder of the weekend. It turned out that the sunset alone was more than enough reason for the journey. Saturday evening was filled with haunting loon sounds. Sunday was filled with the drone of lawn mowers. Last week's snow put off mowing for many, including us. The weekend was the perfect time to prune the vast grassland that was the northeastern corner of the lake. Toes were dipped into the lake. I'm told that "It's cold, but not terrible". Some brave types chose to dip their toes while skiing. About 0.2 inches of rain last week. That's better than none, but not much better. Nicolet Country Club's course is in great shape 'cept for them ball-napping trees on the right side of the 8th hole. They abducted my drive on Sunday and demanded 3 extra swings ransom before releasing the ball to the fairway...I hate those trees. We are going to need more than two tenths of an inch of rain per week if the dropping lake level is to be stopped let alone reversed. Maybe the warm weather will bring some of those huge 3+ inch thunderstorms to the area. We need 10 or 20 of them.

-Nemo
