Mid-February Weekend

February 11th through 14th

After a bit of truck trouble on Friday morning, we were riding the lifts at Brule by 9:40 am. Tips up! Because one of my life long dreams is to live 'till tomorrow, the terrain park slope was unvisited. Forty one runs later, the sun was setting and the air was a bit cooler. The snow was a little slower than past visits and the crowd was slightly larger for a Friday. Still, Ski Brule offers some of the best skiing within an hour of Lake Lucerne. Late in the morning on a sunny Saturday, ski-weary bodies punched a hole in the lake to check the ice. Success! There is 15.5 inches of very good ice. I'll try to get the 2010 Ice-Out Contest up before the end of the month. The dump was visited on Sunday. I spent some time asking the guy that records your dump number about the burn pile. He stated that there was talk of ending the service. The trouble seems to be that some residents were putting tires in with their brush. As long as we remember to seperate our twigs and tires, I think we'll be fine. Lite, blowing snow signaled it was time to flee the lake area. There is more than a trace amount on the ground. We measured 21.5 inches on the bar's deck. That should push the lake up an inch or two. We need more snow/rain. The lake golf season was postponed for 2 weeks due to deep snow on the north end of the lake. I don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of the cold, the ice, the snow, and puting on pounds of clothes to shovel the bar's deck. And shoveling the bar's deck. I really miss the grass. Not really cutting it, but seeing it and walking barefoot on it. February will be in the rear view mirror and spring will be 2 weeks closer the next time we're up.

-Nemo
