The Last Weekend in February

Next »

February 25th through 28th, 2010

Thursday night was cold, as was Friday morning. While falling down the hills at Brule on Friday, the temperature climbed to near 30°F. Many an interesting photo was captured on the slopes, but we forgot that camera (and the card with those pictures) at the bar when we left. Instead of a good skiing photo or two I offer this image of the flooring to be laid in the north east corner behind the bar on Saturday It went down well. Later on Saturday, it was time to check the lake ice. The bottle rocket forts are getting smaller and the ice is getting thicker. There is about 17.5 inches of good ice on the lake. After playing around with an underwater camera and a crummy tripod mount, it was time for more bar building and a late lunch. Next time the mount problems will be addressed and the camera lowered deeper into the icy water. The lake golf season was again postponed due to deep snow. Last year we were golfing on Lucerne in mid-February. Hopefully the snow (8 inches-ish) will push the lake up this spring. We left as the predicted dusting of snow turned into a bit more. We'll be back next weekend to check the ice and the tree tapping gear.

-Nemo
