Pumpkin Carving Weekend

October 24th through 26th, 2008

Lake Lucerne
Friday night, after eating too much at Duck's, some small pumpkins were carved, some pool was played, and there was some bar rail bowling too!

Saturday was cool, windy, and rainy. Golf on Saturday afternoon was different. The greens were slow from the rain and the flags marking the holes were put away for the winter. On the plus side, we were the only 2 people on the course and were able to finish 9 holes in about 75 minutes.

The pumpkins were carved and candled by 9:00 PM.

Bernnie went for a politcal theme with his Barack o' lantern

Several of us went with the "They eat their own" title, but with different takes. Lt's youngest carved "Chewing".
Lake Lucerne
Lt's oldest sculpted "Pre-Chewing".
Lake Lucerne
I went with "Impaled".
Lake Lucerne
Lt did "Chomp".

You really had to see Lt's in the light to appreciate the detail.

Rain returned on Sunday. It would turn to snow by Monday morning.

Sunday was the day of the year to move all the outdoor stuff enjoyed during the summer to a covered area. The winter elements are un-kind and best avoided by deck furniture..

The lake is low and cold. Pulling out the paddle boat and lift from the 50°F water was, well, cold. The air was not warm all weekend with the exception of the air within 10 feet of the big fire built in front of the bar on Saturday night. That was pretty hot.
