Perseids Weekend August 10th through 12th    Updated View Slide Show

There was not much rain last week. Booo!

Rode up on Friday in time to see the sunlight dancing on the lake.  Was told it was pretty rough on the south end.

The temperature of the lake is dropping fast.  It's lost over 5 degrees since last weekend.  At this rate, ice-in will occur in early October (eek).

As if to underscore the lack of any real precipitation, the creek bed is dry.

It was a little cloudy during the day on Saturday.  As the sun set, the sky cleared and the Perseids drizzled down.The clear, moonless sky made for one of the best meteor shower viewings ever.    We saw about 3 dozen meteors and 2 passes of the ISS.  Mrs xxLt wore snow pants.  I should have photographed some of the shower but, with a cigar in one hand and a drink in the other, I ran out of hands.

Auggg!  There is more color in them trees loudly reminding everyone that Summer is passing too quickly.

Return to Knottlane

It sounds like most of the preparation for Footstock next weekend is done.  Good luck to all the participants.  May their feet slide on the water and their head not. Mrs Nemo is finishing off the PDF for this year's Knott Lane Golf Outing.  We'll post it here soon and pass out printed copies down the lane next weekend. The lake seems a few inches lower than it was at the end of July.  We need a lot more rain, or hail, or sleet, or snow.  Hopefully not sleet or snow quite yet. -Nemo should have practiced chipping.                          Previous   Next
