First Skiing Weekend
December 16th through 18th
One of the lifts servicing the front was 15 minutes late starting due to some sort of technical problem. The only lift working on the back wasn't for the entire first hour.  Only one run was open on the back (North Forty).  The lift on the back was pretty empty all morning.
We made it to the still frozen shores of Lake Lucerne Friday evening and retired early.  After rising just before the sun and  making it to Brule about 20 minutes before the lifts were supposed to start, we saw that the snow machines were set on blizzard.
The grooming tractors dotted the hills to, I'd guess, chase people from unopen runs. The one open run on the back got chunked up pretty good just after lunch due mostly to a hoard of snow boarders.
A hole was drilled into the lake on Sunday and pictures were taken with the camera that was set to take brisket pictures the night before.  Turns out the the sun's temperature is not the same as the bar's lights.  The lake ice is at 5.25 inches and not as blue as the picture might suggest.
Bar night on Saturday was moderately attended and aLf brought brisket!  From Texas!  To take this picture, the camera needed to have the "white balance" adjusted to accurately use the lighting "temperature" of the bar.

We also got a last lake level measurement of the year.  It's at 37.25 inches below the nail.  I remember it being about 42 inches below the nail on the last measurement last year, so we gained about 4.75 inches this year.  Yeah.  Eight years or so to go until normal.  Maybe.  Skiing at Brule was un-good.  Many favorite runs and lifts were not open and the Homestead Lodge was out of Monster Energy drink.  The closed runs on the back of the hill were not marked as closed, but you could see grass coming up from the lite snow cover.  One couple we talked to in the lift line thought the grass was some sort of new natural hill garnish on an otherwise open run.  While flying down "Hot Cider", they realized their mistake when they encountered bare patches and sheets of plywood.  Eeek.

-Nemo changed the setting from "Brisket" to "Daylight" as soon as he noticed.
