Mid-August Weekend Mrs Nemo's Birthday Weekend
August 11th through 14th
This Fummer weekend called for tanning.  The light Fummer winds made for excellent kneeboarding/skiing/footing.  Cool Fummer nights dropped the lake temperature by almost 5℉.
The northwoods have entered that strange season between Summer and Fall (Fummer)where tanning is in order one day and a hoodie is called for the next.
Just before sunset, the remaining clouds blew out.  At around 9:43 PM the ISS made a very bright (-3.3) pass over the east shore of the lake.
A moderate Fummer storm quickly passed through the area early Saturday evening.
No clouds survived the night.  The morning cool further pulled the lake temperature down.
The storm totals were less than astounding.  We need more rain to hold and add to the lake level gains made this year.
One tire was found and removed from the lake bottom also.
About 1500 pounds of air (little over a half an hour) was spent under the northeast shore of the lake.  We picked a few golfballs from the lake floor.
Other bass hung out in the cribs that dot the northeastern shore.
A staring contest was won with a local bass.
More than once, a skin diver came down to check on us, remind us that her birthday was tomorrow and her current mask leaks.
The old boat hasn't changed since we visited it last weekend.  My dive partner wore a full wetsuit.  I had just a swim suit and t-shirt under my BC.  The thermocline is at about 20 feet.  I can personally attest that spending any amount of time below it with only a swim suit and t-shirt under your BC is cold.
The sides have fallen on the other, smaller wreck under the northeast shore.
Some cans that rested on the bottom since the era of pop-tops were removed from the lake.

So far Fummer, with the exception of the cool nights and the falling lake temperature, bares a strong resemblance to Summer.  A pod of skin divers in the area attracted a few people in kayaks who watched their golfball gathering antics.  It's good to see that the population of these courious, befined water dwellers is increasing.  During the late 90's and early 00's the DNR had put them on the endangered list, especially the females.  Now, thanks to the no-running-them-over-while-pulling-a-tube rule, they are no longer endangered but simply protected.  Especially the dive flag lugging ones.
