Last Weekend in April
April 25th through 27th
The lake was starting the throws of ice out on Saturday.  The 20 mph wind, gusting to 30 mph, was breaking the sheet into large chunks and ramming them on each other and the shore.
During a normal year, the ice would not have made it past the weekend.  The cold this weekend extended the ice's life for several more days.
On Sunday we helped pull one of the last batches of maple syrup this season.
The sugarmen mined quite a bit of the sweet stuff this year.
Almost all of the snow is gone from the northwoods.  Some still hides in the shadows, but not much.
Images and live control of the new webcam have exceed my expectations.  Did anyone hear the loons over the internet on Sunday?
It's only 1 by 2 feet but it's deep, about a foot and a half deep.  Deep enough to damage a front passenger side tire and suspension.  Be careful.
All the run-off from the melting snow and rain last week has damaged some roads near the lake.  Potawatomi Trail has a large hole on the north side about 300 feet east of the bar.

The ice still clings to life.  It should be gone by next weekend, but with lows in the low 20's and highs in the 40's I would not bet on it.
