Last "Golf on the Lake" Weekend
April 18th through 20th   
The sap was boiling hard when we arrived in the northwoods.  The syrup makers were over 500 gallons of sap behind and the pressure to catch up had them burning all night.
My favorite is when they really get the fire going and a red jet shoots from the stack.
The rain and the melting snow had streams gushing into the lake.  The lake is low but it is rising.  More rain would help.
The rain started late Friday.  By mid Saturday we had about 1.25 inches. 
The lawn for the length of Timber Shores became a very wide, very shallow river flowing into the north end.
There was evidence that the flow had gone on for a while and may have been larger
On Saturday night, we worked on our layering.  I regret that earlier in the evening no pictures were taken of the group of delinquents that lit the stump in front of the bar.   Because of the wet weather, some accelerant was splashed on it.  No one in the group of bevises wanted to risk the loss of eyebrows by lighting it close up, so they retreated about 150 feet and fired bottle rockets at it.  It did not look like it would work until the 6th volley. The fireball amused all.
This winter was harder than most.  Plows taking down mailboxes is common.  I don't think I've ever heard of plows taking out signage, until now.
Large, noisy flocks of geese going north populated the skies over the lake on Sunday.
As you go farther from the edge, the ice grows thicker and not so "rotten".
The edge of the ice was not thick enough to support a well fed goose.
This is the underwater view of the edge.  The water is very cold.
At about 20 feet from shore the ice was 13 inches thick.  Further out it was 16 inches thick.
The new webcam is working well and was adjusted to see more of the shore to the south.
Those holes were packed with icicles and could not support an under-fed goose.
There were some areas of "rotten" ice but they were closer to the shore.

The ice may not be out by next weekend, but it will be thinner.
