4th of July Week

June 30th through July 8th, 2006

Lake Lucerne
The moon was waxing early in the week. By week's end it was full enough to ski by if not obscured by clouds.
Lake Lucerne
With the deck adequately finished, it was time to turn all attention to the lake.
Lake Lucerne
I really like the copper post toppers (available at Home Depot, $2.99 each).
Lake Lucerne
The lake was mostly flat and cool all week.
Lake Lucerne
Skiers were out all week. I like to photograph them for the same reason most people like to watch NASCAR.
Lake Lucerne
Nobody was hurt while skiing all weekend. A toe was broken while getting into the boat and we will never speak of it again.
Lake Lucerne
Watching skiers "try something new" never gets old.
Lake Lucerne
A muskrat was spotted several times on the north end. They don't make good pets.
Lake Lucerne
There were a few cloudy days last week but when the sun was out there was no escape from the heat. Even under a few feet of water, as seen here, it was bright.
Lake Lucerne
The lake's water quality seems to be getting better, if that's possible. The lake level held it's own during the week thanks to some rain.
Lake Lucerne
The water quality has made a favorite pastime, chipping golf balls onto the raft and diving for them, easier.
Lake Lucerne
The big bass are active. This guy was over 20 inches long and hungry looking.
Lake Lucerne
The lake amused all.
Lake Lucerne
There was some rain but not enough to bring the lake back up. It remains about 3 inches below the nail.
Lake Lucerne
The webcam continues to work well. The resolution was dropped to help the streaming but it needs to go lower to be "live". Maybe next weekend...
Lake Lucerne
The food at the Wild Rose Supper Club turned out to be really good. I'll have a review in the next few days.
Lake Lucerne
We'll be back next weekend to check the lake level, adjust the webcam, and collect sore muscles.
