We arrived late Friday to dark and snow. Lots of snow. Lots and lots of snow. And cold. But I would be remiss if I did not mention the copious amounts of snow. There was a lot of it.
Saturday morning was sunny, cold, and there was the ever present snow but we had "chores" to perform.
First we were told to remove the snow from the first 6 to 8 feet of the roof to prevent "ice damming".
We were not dispatched unarmed to this task. A neat tool that forced a poly mat under the snow was more fun than I originally thought.
With task #1 under our belts we were ready to tackle the next item (actually item #2 involved carving the iced in power cords for the roof heater and plugging them into a timer. It had all the fun you might imagine including the near loss of an eye and the random electrocution. That's all I have to say and let us never speak of it again).
I was curious as to the depth of the ice. Task #3 was to find the ice thickness.
It's hard to see here here but the ice is 18.75 inches thick.
Our fort has survived well.
As has Rouge Powers.
The attack igloo and Mr EMT's fort were also in good condition.
All the snow structures, including Krispa and Uglor's, had extensive drifting around them.
The drift patterns reminded me of the sandstone areas of the west.
We will be back next weekend to fix the now crazy webcam and to perhaps sleep in the igloo. It's pretty roomy.
