The Last Weekend Before the Equinox

September 17th through 19th, 2010

Rain! And not just a bit like we are used to as of late. A real drenching drown the lake with over 2 inches last Thursday and Friday. More please. The colors are coming along nicely. We are getting close to 50%. Peak should occur sometime in the next 2 weeks. Saturday's sunset featured a lot of pink. The camera was several meters away when the sky reached peak pink-ness but by the time the shutter was activated, the sun had plunked below the horizon and the colors with it. It got cold on Saturday night/Sunday morning. No ice formed on the lake but I would not have been surprised. I would have thought that the lake would seem much higher with all the rain but no. At least we don't seem to be losing ground. More rain is forecast but don't expect the lake to recover the 5 feet of depth it lost over the last 4 years this fall. A foot would be nice though. Several summer-clingers skied this weekend and seemed to enjoy it despite the really really cold water.

-Nemo should've skied one last time.
