4th weekend in July

Next »

July 21st through 25th, 2010

The lack of Mrs Nemo and the 55 mpg convinced me that a ride up north would be fun. And it was for about 25 miles. A car is far more comfortable for the arms, shoulders, butt, legs. There was some rain (0.3 inches) this weekend but there was some sun and flat water too. Boat activity was greater than I can remember for any day for the last few years. The flat water brought out the serious/crazy barefoot types. Backwards barefoot...always a crowd pleaser. The fish are back! Don't know where they went last weekend, but they're thick on the cribs of the north end of the lake. This year's fry are now big enough to play "finger or food". It'll be a few years before this little guy is "frying pan ready". The water remains crystal clear. The lake temperature is a very swim-able 77°F. The ride home on Sunday was less comfortable than the ride up. Taking a car next time for sure. I caught summer looking at its watch and eyeing the door this weekend. The air was a tad cooler and the raspberries were ripe. That is not to say that summer is over, but it's only a matter of weeks before summer starts looking for its coat and keys. Before then, the 10th Annual O'Keefe Triathlon is scheduled for August 7th starting at 8:00 AM. I'll have water and cigars out for the runners/bikers as they pass the bar.

-Nemo never toasts the foot of a cigar until after the first mile.
