Until last week, summer 2025 was at times wet, at times dry, and at almost all times cold. That changed last week. Dew points soared into the 60s°F making the high 70s°F, then 80s°F, then 90s°F feel all the more toasty. Summer had finally made its presence felt.

As the heat increased, the NCC golf course grew more crowded until the temperatures pushed past the 80s°F. At that point, the hordes evaporated and a tee time was no longer needed for the few that braved sizzling on the green skillet.

All the rain has kept the water hazzards full.

Every Wednesday in June ends with a ski show on Lake Lucerne at Waters Edge. There was rain forecast last Wednesday, but the day started off warm, clear-ish, and dry unless you count dew and you know we don't.

Then clouds started to pop up and get angry.

The rain mostly ended just before the show, mostly.

The wind calmed down too, leaving a flat lake that seemed to beg to be skied upon.

The light crowd hardly got wet at all and saw some great performances.

By Sunday, the north end of the lake was over an inch deeper.

The hotter and hotter air has pushed the lake temperature to 70°F. It's a little cold, but feels perfect on a +90°F day.

The rain has scrubbed tree pollen from the air. And put it in the lake. Winds from the southwest pushed all that pollen onto the bar's beach. If you know anyone that needs a pollen slurry, we are currently running a sale through the end of June.

All that pollen on the beach means less pollen in the lake. Lucerne continues to enjoy some of the clearest water in the state.

The north end of the lake still has a few geese running around.

Many sunsets last week were smothered by thick cloud cover, but Sunday's was clear with strange, barely visible streaks of redish light.

Summer, with its +70°F lake water, occasionally +80°F air, and distinct lack of snow is here. Huzzah! In addition to all the fun, Summer is also populated with mosquitoes and other bitey bugs. Currently, wind and rain seems to have beaten the little bloodsuckers down, so...yay! Experience tells us that they'll be back. Don't put away your DEET just yet. There's lots more to tell, but that beach isn't going to rake itself.<br><br><br>-Nemo: Rake, fun, repeat.
