At the start of last week, it rained. It didn't add up to much, but it did make Monday a no golf/skiing/picnic zone.

By Tuesday evening, the ski cleared, the wind died, and the temperatures fell. It all felt very autumnal.

In places, it started to look a little autumnal. Some of the more stressed maples have started to show a little fall color.

For the most part though, plants were in full summer.

Younglings on the north end of Lucerne were taking flying lessons so when the season really changes, bugging out won't be so hard on their feet.

In an effort to eliminate used grass deposits on roads and lawns of the north end, a ceramic coyote (or really big fox?) was added to the Marks' firepit. It looked good. Regrettably, it didn't work too well for scaring off the used grass depositing machines that continued to infest the increasingly slimy roads and lawns on the north end.

The second last ski show of the season was held without incident on Wednesday.

Ski show crowds tend to shrink near the end of the season, but not this year.

Wednesday was one of the less cold days of last week. The lake was at peak lump for the day and week around 2:30 PM.

At 74°F, the water is still swimmingly comfortable.

Golf was made more interesting by mounting a time lapse camera on a pull cart for a round. Despite the tripod breaking near the green on 6 and ending the production, the results were promising. See the front page for the next few days to see the results. Watching the footage gives the feeling of golfing without all the cursing.

Under a half an inch of rain last week has the lake level dropping and the water hazzards on the NCC course not overflowing.

When there were some clouds around at sunset, the sky became a show.

Someone really should have skied up all that flat late Sunday. We only observed a single watercraft taking a slow tour of the lake, which looked almost as fun in a less exhausting way.

With Footstock just a week away, we expected more 40+ MPH, ski-less types sliding on the water and building their endurance, but no. On Sunday, the lake had a few daytime tubers and evening pontoon-esque excursions, but no footers. It seems that the lake area is catching its breath before the late summer bedlam of Labor Day Weekend. Such a cool off is expected this time of year, but we'll try to keep the top of Lucerne warmed up before the right side bookend of Summer brings the crowds back.<br><br><br>-Nemo's hoping for an extended summer.
