Days of Energy Drinks and Ibuprofen

May 27th through June 2nd, 2014

Lake Lucerne
May ended well. Unlike several previous months ( I'm looking at you April and March) there was heat, rain, and no snow.
Lake Lucerne
On the North end of the lake, the temperature went from the low 60's°F to 74°F before falling back to the lower 70's°F. Not warm but swim-able and the fish are becoming active too.

Early in the week we got a short inch of rain. We need more, but this year has been a wet one so far. Huzzah!
Lake Lucerne
Weekly rain is having an effect on the area around the lake. Creeks and streams continue to flow and lawns need cutting every 5 to 7 days. We went 8 days and are now considering selling hay.
Lake Lucerne
The rain is also having an effect on the lake level. It's going up. Either that, or someone keeps lowering docks around the lake. The lake is up another five inches this month (May). Yay!
Lake Lucerne
We thought we saw the North End Otter for the third time this year on the end of a 2x8, but it turned out to be a giant spider. Hope the spider didn't get the otter.

The ice is still out this week, and it wasn't even close. Mosquitoes are out too. I can't recall a time when biting bugs were this bad. If you are planning a trip to the lake, be sure to pack more than one flyswatter for you will surely wear at least one out. The bugs are the gray lining of a silver cloud. A silver rain cloud. The lake is going up. It hasn't been this high since August of 2008. Getting boats off lifts will not be an issue this year. Keeping them on might.
