
The rain we were supposed to get on Tuesday never made it. We got about three inches of wet, heavy snow instead. Lately "Precipition, even frozen precipitation, is good for the lake level", has become the unofficial Spring mantra around these parts. It helps.

The snow did not last long. That helped more.

Security concerns have been pulled to the forefront since last Friday when xxLt's dump trailer and the ATV with the tracks were stolen. Yard lights are being left on, security cameras are being installed, and cabin six has installed a moat.

Bucket cleaning. The very mention of the two words can cause seasoned tappers to flee. 'Twas the longest six hours of the year so far.

Late in the week, the sun came out and gave the lake ice a beating. There's still a lot of ice left, but it's bloodied and pulling away from the shore.

After Tuesday's snow event, it rained. By the time the rain ended, the lake was made an inch deeper. It's currently 28.75 inches below the nail and that's the highest it's been in years. Huzzah!
