Easing Past the Equinox
September 22nd through 30th   
It hasn't been very wet though.  The lake got just over a quarter of an inch of rain in a single, rather short rain event late last week.  The streams are dried up and the lake is falling.  We'll get the September lake level measurement up later this week.
The change from Summer to a season closer to Winter can be either like cutting over a calm lake with a ski or catching a toe while footing.  So far, this Fall has avoided the faceplant and is much like skiing over a very flat lake.  The transition has been smooth and seamless, plus there has been no snow.
Fall colors are mostly here.  The estimate for color went from 35% to 50% from the start to the end of the week. There's still plenty of green left. I don't think we'll be able to make that boast by the end of next week.
It turned out to be about a cord.  It took more than an hour to smallize and stack.
Earlier in the week, we got a hold of some 100+ pound chunks of tree.  It turned out to be  no small task to split those 100+ pound chunks into more manageable pieces.
So far Fall on Lake Lucerne is bearing a striking resemblance to early June.  It's been sunny with the air temperatures at about 70℉ during the day and around 50℉ most nights.  The water is holding at 67℉.  If not for the 6:45 PM sunsets and wrong leaf colors, you would be hard pressed to find a difference between first June and now.  If seasonal history is any guide, that will be ending soon.  So now it's time to get in those last ski runs and pick out a pumpkin or two for pumpkin carving weekend (October 12, anytime after 6:00 PM, byop).
