| The Last Weekend in April April 26th through 29th |

| Early in the weekend, there was frost on the dandelions in the morning shadows. The temperatures slowly oozed from the forties to the fifties sometime after noon. Winter coats were eyed, hats were worn. | The fire danger was down to moderate. With burning deemed safe enough, large yard fires were lit to dispose of brush and for warmth. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Despite a real amount of rain, the creek is dry. More rain please. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Rain! We need a lot, we got some. A few tenths of an inch evaporated during the weeks we were away so I'd say we got just shy of one and a half inches. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Turtles! They've invaded and taken over the pond on the left of the woman's 18th tee at Nicolet. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| And then there was one. Cabin two has been moved. The only trace of the old orange dwelling is the foundation and the bathroom extention. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The weather tarot readers claim we are entering a wet period in the northwoods. Let's hope so. The lake seems to be holding its own, but the dry streambeds bode ill for the Summer lake level. The lake's smelt run should be over (if Lake Lucerne even still holds any smelt) and trillium are popping up in the woods in spite of the cool weather. The trees are leafing early this year and the water is an un-balmy 52℉. You might want to wait a week or three after lunch to go swimming. -Nemo 1, Raccoon 0 |
