First June Weekend
June 3rd through 5th   
Friday's sunset was nice and held the possibility of night rain, the best kind of rain.
No rain hit the increasingly parched ground.  The stream running into the lake on the north end is not.
Other plants are just starting their season.
Trillium season is coming to an end.
This guy buzzing around the north end of the lake was positively identified as a humming bird, not a mosqutio as was previously thought.  The mosquitoes this year are a little smaller than humming birds, tougher and hunt in large packs.
Valuable nature points were earned when, while looking for Mrs. Nemo's ball in the trees on the right side of the rough on 8, she came upon a new born fawn curled up in a bush.  I did not have a camera.  It looked a little like the ball in this picture only, unlike the ball,  it looked at us and blinked.  And it was also more deer-like.
The first ring of fire wood for the 2012 sapping season is almost all collected.  We ran out of wood this year before we ran out of sap.  I'm told that's not going to happen next year.
About 1 inch of rain in the last two weeks.  Come on Spring, you can do better than that.
Mrs Nemo described it as "very refreshing".
The water temperature is 65 F six feet under the lake, warmer closer to the surface.  But not much.

Despite the lack of rain, the lake seems to be holding its own.  That can't last.  We need rain.  There still seems to be plenty of moisture in the ground if the grass growth rate means anything.  Hot, humid air blowing in early this week could trigger storms the like Lake Lucerne has not seen in some time.  Or not.  The water was "refreshing" enough to put off skiing until next time, but the lake was so flat on Sunday we had to strap on the pine and do a few runs.  Nothing comes close to carving into the glass on a 80 F day.
