First Week of the Summer

The first summer week of 2010 started as you would expect with sun, rain, heat and...

the ceremonial fixing of the lawn tractor. The grass is again short on the north end of the lake.

The big deal this week was the rain. The lake got buckets of the stuff including a 2.5+ inch overnight drenching. We need much more , but this was a great start to summer!

There was plenty of time every day to enjoy the lake between the drops. Skiing/kneeboarding conditions were acceptable to great everyday giving bones/muscles no time to recover.

The fish have come back from where ever they go to in the winter and are back on the cribs, plentyful and active.

Several fisherman and one eagle were plucking them from the water all week.

The low lake level has not been kind to boat wrecks in less than 10 feet of water. The water temperature was kind all week (71°F to 76°F) to divers checking on the sunken boats.

Late in the week, a circular halo formed over the lake in the late afternoon.

The forecast is for dry weather during the second week of summer. Hopefully the flowing watershead will allow the lake to hold onto its gains until the next bout of wet hits. Until then the fish are active, the water is clear and not so ice cold, and the ski show is every Wednesday at 6:30 PM at Water's Edge. Oh, and the Nicolet Golf course is in great shape.
