Tapping Weekend
March 13th through 15th
I love Day-Light Savings time.  Krispa and I got out of the truck at 5:00 PM on Firday and still had enough light for a round of golf. Most (all) of the golf courses are closed north of Hwy 64, so we looked over the sugerbush just off Westshore drive.  The sun was setting and the trees were ready to run.
The drilling began at about 10 AM.
On Saturday morning, xxLt drove the first of two and half ATV  loads of buckets to the maples.
Sap started to pour out just after that.
Spiles were tapped in just after that.
We had to leave before the first of the sap started its journey to syrup.  First batches could come off as early as next weekend.
By sundown, 320 holes, spiles, buckets, and covers were in place.  We celebrated with a bar night that featured beer and babyback bar ribs.

The lake is still frozen.  A hole was drilled on Sunday.  The ice is 22.5 inches thick.  That number should be lower next weekend with all the warm weather predicted this week.  We'll be back next weekend to get a measurement.
