Middle of August Weekend
August 13th through 17th
Steam every morning on the lake marked the inflection point of summer.  From here on, there is little hope of the water getting warmer and the tree colors will be changing soon.
For now, the water is still swimable (72 F) and the loons are plentiful.
All weekend, the winds came from the the north and west.  This makes the north end of the lake very flat, ski friendly.
All weekend, sunsets over the lake were spectacular.

The lake, woods, and weather all conspired to make leaving on Sunday as hard as possible.  The lake level is starting its fall plummet. It's currently at 22 inches below the nail heading for 30 if the rare rains of fall don't show.  The low level has many thinking about boats and lifts.  And getting boats off lifts.  And what to do if boats can no longer float off lifts.  Really have to work on that Yoda lift-the-ship-out-of-the-swamp-with-the-force thing.  It could come in handy this fall.
