Pumpkin Carving Weekend
October 11th through 14th
The weather on Friday was crisp, partly sunny, and calm.  Great weather for some lite outdoor electricical  projects.  Nobody went swimming.
The temperature dropped with the sun on Friday night  We struggled to keep our beers from freezing and our fires lit.
A thick blanket of frost covered pretty much everything by Saturday morning.
After a day full of pre-winter chores, pumpkin carving was lively and well attended.
All the carvings had their own charm.  The candles burned for several hours.
Having missed photographing the comet currently near Arcturus on Friday night, I made it my cause to capture the last Bailey's Comets of the year on Saturday. The webcam was give a once-over on Sunday and pronounced sound.  This will be its second winter spent outside.

The lake level is not falling as fast as past autumns.  I guess that's a good sign.  All the rain last week put it up about an inch.  Only about 2 feet to go.  Nicolet Country Club's golf course was found to be in the best shape of the year on Sunday.  We found the mood in Crandon to be a mixture of shock and sadness.  There were still signs of out of town media lurking about.  All the message boards in town had a comforting theme.  I noticed a few small groups of locals huddled together, speaking in hushed tones, or not speaking at all.  It may take a long while before the watery, haunted stares begin to fade.
