Labor Day Weekend

Next »

August 30th through September 3rd, 2007

Thursday evening was warm and calm. I feel like a bit of a nit for the premature call of the end of summer. The color whispering from the trees sugguests Fall, but the weekend's weather clearly screamed Summer. There was the occasional threat of rain. It all missed us for the most part. Bar nights were largely relaxed and game filled. Late on Saturday, a hole developed in the Joezone Layer. Several paid the price. Boats were pulled from the shrinking waters on Sunday. Careful pulling boats in and out at the public landing. There is a rock reef at prop height just past the end of most trailers. It can be avoided by approaching the landing at an angle. The webcam continues to work well. The dome cover was cleaned of spider webs for a clearer image. The lake ended up 21 inches below the nail, but the water that's left was crystal clear on Monday. The deeper rocks in this picture are in about 8 feet of water. The great weather and clear water had many hollering with joy. It looks like this Summer's last day will be Thursday, September 6th. After that, the predicted highs are in the upper 50's°F and 60's°F. Time to put on the storms, stack the firewood, order a new prop (if you were not careful at the landing), and find that favorite chili recipe.

-Nemo
