Pumpkin Carving Weekend

October 27th through 29th, 2006

Lake Lucerne
Friday night, when we arrived, it was cold, dark, and martini.

A light cover of snow fell ove night and whited up lawns for much of the morning on Saturday.

By sunset, the pier, paddle boat, and raft were out of the water. Not much boat traffic this time of year.
Lake Lucerne
The muskrat that has been spotted all summer and fall was found on the shore being particularly non-frisky.

Carving went well. No digits were lost and many seeds were roasted.

As the wind, temperature, and light dropped, the pumpkins were candled and lit.

By Sunday morning, there was ice on the unfrisky muskrat but the sky was blue and the sun warm. Well, as warm as it gets for late October.

The webcam has performed well so far this fall. Watch for the ice to cover the lake in the next 6 weeks or so.
Lake Lucerne
Lake Lucerne Resort has undergone an extreme makeover in the past few weeks.

It was more than a little sad taking these pictures. I really liked the Friday fish fry and the view of the islands from the bar a few years back.
Lake Lucerne
The lake is very clear, cold, and a little muskratty in places. The water level is down but seems to not be falling as fast as earlier this fall. We'll be back in November after the bullets stop wizzing through the woods.
