Last Long Visit
August 11th through 20th
This summer has had some of the best weather I can remember.  The middle of August proved to be no exception.  It was hot and sunny during the days and cool (with no sun) during the nights. The time between sun and no sun (sunset or sunrise, sunset here) was also photo worthy.
Areas around the lake have changed from years past.  This is an image from the 30's or 40's (50's?) of the north-eastern corner.
This is the same area from August 2006.  There is no trace of the road to the right but we found part of the foundation of the structure in the middle.  I'll try to post an old and new picture at least once a month.
Damage from the big summer storm is still evident.  The north end of the lake was largely spared.  From just above mid-lake south there are downed trees still splayed on the shore.
The lake level is still down below the nail (about 5 inches) but not dropping as fast as past Augusts.
The water seemed more clear  this summer. This made the lake one of the best for snorkeling or SCUBA diving.
In other lakes, the view of your dive flag from 20 feet below would never be this clear.
The game's only drawback is it gets old fast for both me and the fish.
One of my favorite fish games, "finger or worm?", was quite the hit with the smallmouth on the north shore.
The webcam has preformed well all summer.  A new cold-weather enclosure should keep the pictures coming all winter.  I've thought of a way to make the live image be "reflected" from the bandwidth of this site's host.  I'll be implementing it this fall if it works.
Bottle rockets were sent into the sky to celebrate the summer and practice for upcoming winter events.

The entire week was spectaclur as was the whole summer.  We'll be back Labor Day weekend for lake reports, bar nights, and the Knott Lane Golf Klassic.
