Boats & Lifts in Weekend

May 13th through 14th, 2005

Lake Lucerne
The weather guys claimed the weekend would be wet and cold. We arrived to put in the boats on Friday and can substantiate their predictions.

This is one of the 2 loons that spent Friday evening fishing the north end.

Saturday morning was cool but there was no rain. The day would stay unwarm but not unmoist.

We put in the pontoon boat last and had some trouble starting it at the boat landing. The problem turned out to be electrical in nature and the boat started right up after we solved it. Note to boaters: when winterizing engines put the little wire clips back on after checking the spark plugs

At around noon blue skies were replaced with gray.

Shortly after that, small circles formed on the lake surface and we all knew the water level would continue to rise. It's up 3 inches since ice-out.

With the boats in, one particularly bad round of golf-in-the-rain done, and snow predicted for Sunday, we left. I hope spring starts soon. We'll be back up next weekend to get pictures of the billions of trilliums and blue (?) skies (we're due) over the lake.
