New Year's Eve/Day

December 31st, 2004 through January 1st, 2005

We made it to the northwoods late Friday, just in time to enjoy the Christmas lights that were still up.. We carved a 5 by 6 foot hole in the ice by moonlight and, by mid-night, the desire to get the last/first swim of the year left us. No one took the plunge. Maybe next year... In the morning we found signs of fishermen on the ice. A few snowmobile tracks traverse the north end of the lake. There was very little snow on the lake and the surface was quite smooth. It was great for skating, treacherous for walking. An speaking of treacherous, Knott Lane is iced. We had to leave early on the first. The lake area got about an inch of snow on Saturday. More would be nice for next weeks Bottle Rocket War.

-Nemo
