| A Brief History Thirteen years ago a small group built some walls out of snow on the north end of Lake Lucerne and, when night fell, fired a gross of bottle rockets at each other from behind those forts. The occasion was so entertaining that we have done it every year since... Notes On This Years Encounter - All participants* will recieve an authentic 13th annual tee shirt in choice of size (M, L, or XL) and color (as long as it's white). - Fort location and construction starts on Thursday, January 21 and is to be finished by the evening of Saturday, January 24. - This will be the first year for the Fort Form Mark IV, a fort constuction tool that should greatly enhance both the speed of building and the aesthetic nature of the final structures. - On Thurday night we will be staying at the Claridge in Rhinelander. After spending the day on the frozen surface of the lake building forts the pool and hot tub have become a much anticipated tradition during bottle rocket war week. - The war will start on Saturday at 6:30 PM (ish). - Stick pickup will be Sunday morning. * Participants must build a fort and use safety goggles, ear protection and ONLY the bottle rockets supplied. In all the years we have been doing this no one has ever been actually hit with a rocket (unless you count the ship to ship battles we had in the summer during the late 90's, we will not be doing that again but I digress) but it pays to be safe. If you are planning to participate please email me (andy@knottlane.com) before January 21 to reserve a fort location. |
