Autumn Weekend

September 25th through 27th, 2003

We came up on Thursday night and made spectacles of ourselves by taking pictures of the food at the Maiden Lake Supper Club. The food was great there for the second time. Friday was quite blustery. The waves keep most off the lake but there are still quite a few boats and lifts still in the water, waiting for calmer days. An eagle soared over the north shore late in the morning. It stayed in the area for about 30 minutes. The logs are piled in the woodshed with care with the hope that cooler temperatures soon will be there. I'm told we still need about a cord more. The air is more crisp and there are unmistakable signs of the fall season. The patches of color are still not in the majority but their numbers are growing. Peak color should occur in 7 to 10 days. The first snow happening about 14 days after that, if the last few years are any guide. Rocks were added to the side of the road on the north end of the lake. These join the few that have been there for over 3 decades. The water was to rough/cold/wet to ski so we enjoyed (endured) 27 holes of golf. Next week, we'll ski more and golf less.

-Nemo
