Friday the 13th Weekend

June 13th through 14th, 2003

We arrived late Friday and after golf and a nosh the night was on us. A full moon lit up the lake with almost enough light to ski. Saturday morning was sunny and hinted that summer is not far off. The water temperature did not comfortably lend itself to swimming activities but this did not matter...the fish were active. We've been fishing the lake for decades and have found that a 1/16 oz chartreuse jig head with a 2 inch chartreuse twister tail either casted, trolled or, better yet, vertically jigged will catch just about anything that swims in the cold clear waters. We caught 18 rock bass in about 10 minutes. Then, trolling back, Mrs. Nemo caught (and released) this 17 inch smallmouth. Now the thing about using these twister tail jigs is that, for the best presentation, light line and ultralight tackle are best. This means that you should not forget to bring a net as we did. Grumpy Squirrel! We had to leave Saturday evening but we'll be back...

-Nemo
