Giant Swing Redux July
July 11th through 28th, 1991          


July. The very thought of this most Summer of months brings a warm smile to the faces of northern Wisconsin visitiors and residents.


Not every day in July is sunny and warm. Rain, wind, and night can keep even the most avid lake lovers inside. The well prepared take advantage of this downtime to improve their technical or chrematistic skill set with reading material and training aids. Ours came in a box and had a cool spinner. Plus there's cheese (this is Wisconsin after all.)


The sun did rise and the weather was all July. The old giant swing had problems. Even moderate swinging started tipping it over. To facilitate a better giant water swing experience, a more stable giant swing was designed. The old giant swing was disassembled. Most of its parts were to be reused.


There was a bit of tension when some of the construction crew argued that a giant balance beam would be more fun/less work than a giant swing.

We stuck with the plan. The balance beam-ite used her skills during the giant swing's construction.
The new giant swing was bigger and less tippy than the old one.

The dance of giant swing completion was performed.
The dance may have gone on too long.


It has been a great July. There was lots of skiing, swing building, and eating at Grant's (pronounced Water's Edge in 2014). Plus MrsNemo has put up with me as a husband/dancer for over 3 weeks, and a Pickled Pete (a pickled polish sausage in a sealed plastic sleeve, don't call him Slim) was added to our time capsule. We truly live in a golden age.
