In spite of a lack of heat and rain, it seemed almost Summer-like this week. The lake temperature is holding at about 73°F, which is a little cool but you can get used to it. When the sun was out, the air felt warmer than it was.
There was a wedding held on the Southeastern shore of Lake Lucerne last weekend. A better venue we can not imagine. We wish the wonderful couple all the best.
Purple Loosestrife, a pretty but highly invasive, non-native plant, was found in the creek on the north end of the lake by a team of local super scientists. It's been dealt with, but be on the lookout.
You can identify the weed by its purple flower, opposite leaf pairings, and square stem.
We've always enjoyed the aerial view of the lake ever since we saw it on a paper placemat at a local restaurant. We'll try to include a placemat worthy image in every upcoming update barring any weather or technical issues (low batteries, shotgun armed locals, crashes.) We are going to attempt to get a picture of the ski show with the Knottlane drone on Monday (July 28th, tonight as this is written.) Wish us luck. If you are planning to attend the show, please note that the Crandon Watershow's policy of no shotguns will be strictly enforced. The lake got a whole 0.25 inches of rain last week. rah. This week is forecast to be warming and wet. Let's hope so. Ribfest (A.k.a. Pig in the Pines) is later this week (7/31-8/2) and Footstock starts on Saturday (8/2). Many are planning on being fatter and more injured by Sunday.
