Lake Lucerne
During several mornings last week there was frost on the pumpkins. That's fine, it's that time of year. There was rain on them during many of the days! That's great! The lake needs rain.
Lake Lucerne
On some of the colder mornings the lake steamed quite a bit.
Lake Lucerne
All that steaming brings the lake temperature down. Fast. It's closer to 55°F now than when this image was taken.

By Friday, 3 days of on and off rain added up to 0.7 inches. For the cost of 3 days, it wasn't much. Better than nothing though.
Lake Lucerne
The only fisherman we saw seemed to be having a good time despite the rain.

The local lazy squirrels were left untaunted all week. Taunting them makes 'em tough and deer hunting is about a month away.
Lake Lucerne
A day after we pulled the ski boat the lake became a flat, skierless surface. That's the way it goes sometimes, but we don't have to like it. The water temperature has crossed the No Nemo Swimming line and the days are getting really short. To make a long story short, it's time to flee. So we are heading to Vegas to gather our strength, enjoy some warmth and lighten our wallets. It would be wrong not to post an update for the next few weeks so the next updates will be as they would have appeared if this website (or even the internet!) were around in 1995 and 1980. It'll be fun!
