| The Week After the End of Tapping
April 16th through 18th |

| A cold spring sun was setting up wind by the time we made it up. We would have been to the lake earlier but shivering on the golf course and watching poorly hit golf shots being made worse by strong wind gusts seemed like a good plan. Foolish plan. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A thin slice of the moon and a bright Venus graced the Friday evening sky just after sunset. (Venus is the dot just to the left of the center Pine). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Rain, or rather the lack of rain, has pushed the fire danger to "EXTREME". The only fire danger level worse is "RUN". Burning permits have been suspended. I don't think this includes enclosed deck fires so we had a small, well controlled one. The lake area badly needs rain. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The webcam is working well. Loons have returned to the lake and can be heard most evenings over the audio feed. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The golf course is improving with each passing week. They have a sprinkler system. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A strange patch of plant life is growing on the stump between the 7th green and the 8th tee. I'm not sure what it is, but the red stems and lite green tops forced a picture. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The lake needs rain. A measurement from the nail was made on Sunday. It's 41 inches below the nail. In June of 2004 the lake level was 20 inches above the nail. That's 61 inches down in a little less than 6 years. Five Feet plus an inch. Yikes. The lake needs rain. -Nemo |
