Last Weekend in May

May 29th through 31st, 2009

Lake Lucerne
The lake was extra calm on Friday while we golfed at Nicolet and xxLt pruned some tree limbs and flanges back in Milwaukee. (Note to xxLt : You should really use a nail clipper to trim finger nails. They are lighter and easier to use than a chainsaw and, unless you get really wild, you won't require stiches afterward. It's also is better for your golf game.)

2.1 inches of rain on the north end of the lake last week. Yeah!

On Friday night, a bird was yelling at us while we had a small fire on the bar's deck. Later we found that she had built a nest in the firewood overhang.
Lake Lucerne
Try to be quiet near the bar for the next few weeks. The babies are sleeping.
Lake Lucerne
Them baby birds won't be hungry if they can eat mayflies. The air is thick with 'em. Near the lake, you have to raise your voice to be heard above the buzz of millions of tiny, annoying wings.
Lake Lucerne
The ferns and other greenery have gone from dormant to thriving in about 3 weeks.
Lake Lucerne
If the amount of fisher-people are any indication, the fish seem to be active on the north end of the lake. Not many skiers yet, but plenty of fishing boats and pontoon boats are roaming the water. One lunatic in an inflatable power boat continues to haunt the fishing boats, pontoon boats, and the north end of the lake in general.
